PACE Will Discuss Another Resolution on Armenia in June: Postanjyan

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will during its June 21-25 session discuss another resolution pertaining Armenia, Heritage MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, who is also a member of the Armenian delegation in PACE, said at a press conference today.

She also said that the 1416 Resolution about Armenia adopted by PACE in 2005 will also be discussed during this session. This resolution envisages the creation of a sub-committee on Nagorno Karabakh.

At the same time Postanjyan recalled that it is the PACE President Mevlut Chavushoglu, who is also a Turkish national, that is much interested in the creation of this sub-committee and spends much efforts for the purpose.

"One of the dangerous points of this resolution is that it mentions as if the Republic of Armenia is an 'occupant' country and, in fact, the RA official representatives go for negotiations with this word 'occupant' in it [resolution]. Several documents have been adopted mentioning as if Armenia is an 'occupant' that has occupied some territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, but our diplomacy has not initiated or backed during these 20 years any document where it would be written that Azerbaijan is in fact the occupant itself. We have not done any real work in this direction yet," said Postanjyan, adding that Armenia's diplomacy should take action in adequately responding to such resolutions and statements.
