Armenian authorities award medals instead of solving problems with Georgia: Stepan Safaryan
14:55 • 02.08.10

Armenian authorities have so far failed to demonstrate that they are able to solve the most important issues that exist with Georgia, Heritage MP Stepan Safaryan told a press conference today.
"Unfortunately, Armenia's authorities could not demonstrate by any example that they can solve the most important problems with the Georgian authorities," said he.
According to Safaryan the Armenian side used almost all of the methods to solve the bilateral problems ranging from being offended up to awarding medals to the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili - but in no avail.
"What the Armenian authorities need is to correctly diagnose the situation," explained Mr Safaryan.
Further he said that of all the problems with Georgia Armenia has been able to solve only those pertaining to the gas pipeline that carries Russian gas to Armenia, and those related to cargo, while it has not solved any serious problems. Even more, Armenia has evaded making an agenda of the issues the Georgian-Armenians are mostly concerned about.
"No sharp words are said," said Mr Safaryan, noting that when it comes to relations with Armenia Georgia behaves the way it feels like.
Speaking about the status of the Armenian Church in Georgia, Mr Safaryan said it should be recognized by the Georgian state.
