United States joined international genocide prevention cause – Ararat Mirzoyan
With its landmark move to recognize and condemn one of the 20th century's most heinous crimes against humanity – the annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, their historical homeland – the US Senate joined the international cause towards preventing future crimes of genocide, the Armenian National Assembly's speaker today, praising the passage of S.Res 150 by the top US legislative body.
In his address to parliament, Ararat Mirzoyan also hailed the earlier House resolution (H.Res. 296) as an important step towards rejecting Turkey's denial and raising a call for historical justice and truth. He welcomed - on behalf of all the three factions in parliament - the US colleagues for their unanimous support.
Mirzoyan offered his special gratitude to those in the Armneian National Committee of America (ANCA) and the Armennian Assembly of America (AAA), whose long-lasting efforts in the past years contributed to the historic vote. ″As the president of the Armenian National Assembly, I would like to emphasize our commitment not to spare an effort towards achieveing the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and its just retribution,″ he said.
