Prosperous Armenia leader’s statement of no benefit to country – governors

Aragatsotn Governor Sargis Sahakyan does not think that a new situation has developed in Armenia.

“I am entirely supportive of the president’s approaches and I think that society has been waiting for them for a long period. As an Armenian citizen I am beside the president,” Mr Sahakyan told Tert.am.

With respect to Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s statement, he noted that he is not at all interested in it. He considers the statement on early elections unrealistic.

“The people are well aware of who is who and they voted for the president a year ago and, I think, will vote for the Republican Party of Armenia in four years as well.”

Dwelling on the Aragatsotn region, Mr Sahakyan said:

“I have worked in the region for 20 years, and I have not seen any political force has done anything.”

As regards Mr Tsarukyan’s philanthropic activities, the official said:

“The Republican Party of Armenia needs no self-display. During Serzh Sargsyan’s seven-year presidency, 87 of 120 schools have been completely renovated in our region. Last year alone, a total of 42 billion drams were invested in the region.”

It is thanks to President Serzh Sargsyan that Armenia has an efficient army.

“This is the most efficient army in the region. In 2008, when we came to power, a global economic crisis broke out. To his credit the president managed to deal with all the problems without shocks,” Mr Sahakyan said.

Aramavir Governor Ashot Ghahramanyan does not think a new situation has developed in Armenia.

“In his speech the president stated that everyone must mind their own business,” he told Tert.am.

Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan does not see any need to speak of Mr Tsarukyan’s political activities.

“The president stated that anyone living in our country must respect the law,” he said.

As regards Mr Tsarukyan’s statement on early elections, Mr Khachatryan believes that such statements could be of any benefit to Armenia.

As regards Mr Tsarukyan’s philanthropic activities, Mr Khachatryan said:

“We are all philanthropists in our country.”
