Women are powerful - Arthur Abraham’s April 7 greetings to Armenian women and girls

Women are powerful creatures, but together with men, they become far more powerful, the German-Armenian world boxing champion Arthur Abraham (WBO Super Middleweight) said in an exclusive interview with Tert.am, congratulating Armenian women and girls on the April 7 Motherhood and Beauty Day.

Arthur, do you agree that men are the weak gender as a matter of fact, because women are stronger, more resistant and patient.

Of course, women are strong, as the man cannot walk for kilometers carrying a child. It seems to me that no man in the world would carry a child the way a woman does. But men too, have their own strengths; together they [the two genders] are very strong.

Do you mean women in general or the Armenian women?

Women in general.

And what would you say about our typical national features?

I have a mother who is an Armenian, and I am proud of it. I have always said that all nations are good, but the Armenians are special. As for our specific features … well, we have a culture and a kind of different behavior and upbringing. Ours is a little different - the attachment to one another and everything else. Everything is special. Taking the opportunity, I congratulate our women and mothers on their holiday.”

What can you say about your private life? To the best of my knowledge, you are engaged.

I delayed that a little bit, but yes, I have a fiancée, and we are marrying in the coming months.

In Armenia?

Yes. 

Is it going to be a traditional Armenian wedding or …

Just a regular one as all others; not something very traditional and based on ‘old’ traditions. The kind of wedding that will give pleasure to everybody.

Are you willing to give your fiancée’s name?

The choice of my life is an Armenia; I’d better refrain from giving the name.  

Do you think that statement of yours made many Armenian girls sad?

I think it made them happy, because it is time for me to have children. I don’t think there is a bigger wealth than one’s own child.

Would you like your firstborn to be a girl or boy?

My dream is to have three boys and one girl. But I would be happy again if there were three girls and only one boy.

Do you now see a modern, European generation in Armenia?

Yes I do. Our young generation can be regarded as something belonging to a different “system”, not even European. Likewise our parents who lived differently than we do now, our children live a different life. That’s natural.
