Google launches ‘personal goals’ feature

We all try to make personal goals, but between meetings, errands and other obligations they get pushed to the side or even forgotten.

But 'I don't have the time' is no longer a valid excuse, because Google will find an opening in your busy schedule for you, reports the Daily Mail.

Goals in Google Calendar lets you log a goal, set 'How often' and 'Best time' and from there it will look at your monthly obligations to find an opening.

There are only a few steps between you and the better version of you.

First, make sure you have the Google Calendar App installed on your smartphone.

In the bottom, right-hand corner is a red circle with a plus sign -- tap on it.

From there a few options should appear: Event, Reminder and Goal (tap Goal).

The program will then ask you to select the kind of goal you want.

It can be 'Work out more', 'Build a skill, 'Read a book' or whatever it is you want to do change your life.

Google will ask how often you'd like to work on your personal goal and what time of day you prefer – morning, afternoon or evening.

The software analyzes your existing schedule, which is probably packed with meetings, lunch dates or other important events, and fits your goal in an open space based on your preferences.

You do have the option to move the goals around or defer them if you know it's not possible at that time.

And if you plug an obligation in at the same time as your goal, Google will find another slot for your 'me time'.

“Goals aren't easy—especially when the unexpected comes up—but Calendar can help you adjust in a number of important ways,' Google shared in a recent blog post.

“For example, Calendar will automatically reschedule if you add another event that's a direct conflict with a goal.”

The secret sauce to Google Calendar is that the more you use it, the better the technology becomes at scheduling your goals.

By deferring, editing or completing your goals like normal, Calendar will choose even better times in the future.

“Calendars should help you make the most of your time—not just be tools to track events,” writes the software giant.
