By weakening Armenia you are also threatening Artsakh’s future - Union of Freedom Fighters of Artsakh

The Union of Freedom Fighters of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issued a statement on the actions of the armed group that attacked a police station in Yerevan.

The statement reads:

“An armed attack on a station of a police regiment the Republic of Armenia on July 17 resulted in the blood of an Armenia being shed. It proved a heavy blow to our national reputation. Regrettably, some of the organizers of that action once participated in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. They are people who, shoulder to shoulder, were defending the homeland in the trenches with us, but now appear to be from a different camp. History will show how well justified and lofty is the aim of the homeland defenders that are now on the opposite side, as well as the means of achieving this aim. But now we have a ruined fate of Armenian, split people and unenviable domestic political situation.

“At present, we have an Armenian colonel who fought to defend Artsakh, but was killed by an Armenian, as well as Armenian citizens wounded by Armenians, hostages held by Armenians, a woman among them.

“We must not forget that not too much time has passed since the April, and a crueler and longer-lasting confrontation is not ruled out. It is a factor, which should guide us toward unity rather than incite us to weaken our own national resistance. You should come to realize that by your disuniting actions you are weakening Armenia, which is going through hard times. And by weakening Armenia you are also threatening Artsakh’s future. In contrast to you, we, the war veterans, are convinced that peaceful and consistent reforms are the basis for our country’s future progress. And mutual understanding rather than setting society against its own government that is a guarantee of Artsakh’s independence and territorial integrity. Given the volatile geopolitical and regional situation, the Union of Freedom Fighters of Artsakh is calling on both the armed group members and a number of unbalanced public and political organizations enthusiastic about their actions from refrain from unpromising steps toward further escalation and embark on reasonable course of action, namely, obeying the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia and moving toward a peaceful settlement of the situation.”
