Armenia, Artsakh to co-host 2019 Pan-Armenian Summer Games

The Seventh Pan-Armenian Summer Games, scheduled for August 5 to 17, will be conducted in both Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) to host young compatriots from different diaspora communities across the globe.  

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the games. The solemn opening and the first three days of the competitions will be conducted in Nagorno-Karabakh's capital, Stepanakert. The sporting event will then continue in Yerevan. The announced date of the opening ceremony is August 6. The closing event is due on August 17 in Yerevan's Liberty Square.

A delegation led by Ishkhan Zakaryan, the president of the World Commitee of Pan-Armenian Games, has left for Stepanaker. The creative team is now said to be amid preparations for finalizing its plans.  Zakaryan promises a high-level organization of the event. The proposal to conduct competitions also in the second Armenian Republic has received a unanimous approval.

Zakaryan considers the initiative essentially symbolic, citing the original slogan encouraging the triunity of Armenia, Artsakh and the the Diaspora, as well as solidarity and unity through sports.

''I don't think the conditions should be our priority in the case of the Pan-Armenian Games – and any event in general – when it comes to discussing a specific program, and resolving and considering a specific task. Our priority should be the idea, desire, disposition and unanimous work - by each and every of us. All that will certainly ensure our very good result,'' he said.

The organizers of the Seventh Pan-Armenian Summer Games have met with Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan and State Minister  Grigory Martirosyan in Sepanakert. The first working meeting was also attended  by representatives of sporting federations and responsible officials from interested government bodies.
