Azerbaijani delegation to NATO 'attempted to raise questions on Karabakh' at Parliamentary Assembly
Members of the Armenian Parliamentary Delegation to NATO on Tuesday summed up the recent Parliamentary Assembly discussions held in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Andrankik Kocharyan of the ruling My Step faction said their first visit in the curent format (though more congnitive in nature) allowed the delegation to be active nontheless "to hit back at the Turkish and Azerbaijani efforts towards turning regional challenges to their own advantage."
Kocharyan noted that all the reports at the meeting addressed the ongong conflicts in different parts of the globe, as well as the Russian and Georgian engagement in those processes. ''The logic behind those reports revealed episodes in which the Azerbaijani delegation sought to grasp at loopholes to raise questions on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh),'' he said.
Gevorg Gorgisyan of the opposition Bright Armenia party said he feels that the participant countries are in a way "sick and tired of the ongoing discourse". ''That's to say, they are expecting something new, which we are going to propose in autumn,'' he added.
According to Vctor Yengibaryan of My Step, Azerbaijan ''is simply trying to put the Nagorno-Karabakh issue on the same platform as the Ukrainian and Georgian territorial disputes''. ''They are trying to manipulate the relations in an attempt to receive NATO's assistance, but they never succeed,'' he said.
Andranik Kocharyan, for his part, called for Russia's close attention to follow particularly those reports which address Azerbaijan. In his words, most of those documents fall within the logic of the earlier reports targeted against Russia.
