Armenian deputy PM discusses joint projects with EU partners

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan on Tuesday had a video call with Lawrence Meredith, the chief of the EU Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), his press service reports.

The conversation, attracting also Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, and several European Commission representatives,  addressed mainly the joint projects and activities.

Grigoryan highly appreciated the European partners' support to Armenia in the complicated period of the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The sides also discussed Armenia's participation in the upcoming video conference of the EU Eastern Partnership (EaP) leaders. Simultaneously, the draft agreements developed as part of the EaP's 2020 Plan of Actions (particularly, the budgetary anti-crisis assistance programs dealing with the justice sector and the fight against COVID-19) were on the agenda.

The EU Delegation members promised to sum up the projects within a month.

Mr. Meredith reaffirmed the EU's willingness to assist Armenia in the fight against the COVID-19, as well as to provide continuing aid in the implementation of future reforms (including the 2020 projects). He thanked the deputy premier for comprehensive work and a constructive cooperation. Unveiling the agenda of the EaP leaders' summit, the European official said that it will focus on the five long-term policy objectives incorporated into the March 18 proposal dealing with the project's future.

The sides also discussed the domestic efforts in the fight against the pandemic  and the problems in different states in the wake of the spreading disease.
