Armenian prime minister orders ex-national security chief's arrest - Hraparak.am

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is said to have embarked on active efforts towards neutralizing the Armenian opposition.

According to the information available to Hraparak.am, the government team's entire resources have been now directed to their criticis who are  thought to be amid  a steady consolidation. 

But the main target is reportedly Artur Vanetsyan, the former director of the National Security Service (NSS), who is perceived as a potentially serious threat to the prime minister.

Citing its sources, the paper says that the agency's newly appointed chief, Argishti Kyaramyan, has been given an order to "neutralize" Vanetsyan. Pashinyan has reportedly instructed him to summon his predecessor "under any pretext" to arrest and later detain him for a long period, putting in place all the leverages of influence over courts.

What matters to Pashinyan is to keep the former NSS director in custody for as long as two months and later release him.  As for Kyaramyan, he is not reportedly a career officer and faces by virtue no constraint in terms of complying with the superior's order.

Vanetsyan has been invited to the NSS later today, says the paper, predicting the high likelihood of his arrest after interrogation.
