Police deputy head murdered intentionally

Yesyterday's murder of the deputy head of RA Police, Gevorg Mheryan, drew the attention of the society and the high ranking officials. Though there is still lack of information concerning the case, it found a keen response in nearly all the newspapers and mass media today.

 The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office spread a press release today which said that the Special Investigation Service of Armenia instigated criminal proceedings on the case of Mheryan’s murder according to the 2nd item of the 2nd part of the104th article (murder related to service or public duty of the person) and the 235th article (illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An investigation task group has been set up which includes members of Police, National Security and Special Investigation Services.

 The Prosecutor General's Office stated that the deputy head of RA Police, Gevorg Mheryan, was shot intentionally by a masked man in front of his appartment near the lift on the seventh floor in 65 Barbius street at 20:15 on the 3rd of February.

 Gevorg Mheryan got 4 gunshot wounds incompatible with life - 1 in the chest and 3 in the head. 9mm calibre 8 cartridges and 4 bullets were found at the place.

 The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office promised to give additional information on the preliminary investigation of the case.
