Serzh Sargsyan laid flowers to Vazgen Sargsyan's grave

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan visited Yerablur today and laid flowers to the grave of Commander Vazgen Sargsyan in the memory of the 50th anniversary of his birthday. After a silence minute in front of Commander's grave Serzh Sargsyan approached and laid flowers to Andranik Ozanyan's grave, and then walked up to Yerablur's oval memorial.

Other officials including Armenian National Assembly (ANS) speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Head of Police Alik Sargsyan, Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan, as well as ANS deputies and Ministers also put flowers to Vazgen Sargsyan's grave. The newly appointed Mayor of Yerevan, ex head of Kentron (Center) Community Gagik Beglaryan also attended the ceremony together with the high ranking officials.

It is one of those rare days when Yerabalur is overcrowded. Along with many politicians high officers' staff also was at Yerablur today, and the whole pantheon was encircled by police representatives.

"Today we realize that we really remember our ex Prime Minister's life. Today we remember a person who was an outstanding politician and military in our country's new history. A man who headed our republic's Ministry of Defense. A man who together with his companions contributed to achieving peace and victory. A close and honest friend who always made us feel his care and concern," said Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan told the journalists that a governmental commission headed by Prime Minister had been set up to celebrate Vazgen Sargsyan's anniversary. He also noted that a memorial evening devoted to Vazgen Sargsyan's 50th anniversary would be organized in the center named after Karen Demirchyan today.
