Pashinyan’s Trial Now in Appeals Court, Prosecution Demands Guilty Verdict on All Counts

At 11 am on March 3, former chief editor of Haykakan Zhamanak (“Armenian Times”), Nikol Pashinyan’s appeal proceedings took place at the RA Court of Appeal.

On January 19, the Court of First Instance of Center and Nork-Marash Communities of Yerevan had sentenced Pashinyan to 7 years imprisonment, declaring him guilty under Article 225 Section 1 of the RA Criminal Code, while declaring Pashinyan innnocent on the charges of Article 316 Section 1 of the Criminal Code (assault on a representative of the authorities).

The case has now reached the Court of Appeal because the Prosecution is demanding that the defendant be found guilty under Article 316 Section 1 as well.
