Star Supermarket to Open 5 More Stores in Armenia
Armenia’s local network of Star supermarkets has launched a campaign from March 1. Called Extensive Price Reduction, it covers more than 5,000 products that include both food and non-food items, said Star Executive Director Vahan Kerobyan at a March 3 press conference.
In his words, prices have slashed an average of 5-20% depending on the product category and its consumption quantity. According to Kerobyan, this campaign is not a temporary but a permanent one.
He also mentioned that since last year, one of Star’s priorities has been the balancing of prices in order to surmount the economic crisis. In Kerobyan’s words, the reduction of prices became possible only due to some restructuring within the company, improving efficiency, and cutting down expenses and work conducted with distributors.
At the same time, he thinks that beginning from April 1, the gas price will cause a rise in the price of local products and thus a rise in prices, adding that Star will try to ease the inflation so that customers will not bear the burden.
Kerobyan added that Star is planning to spend about $1.5 million USD to open 5 new supermarkets in Yerevan this year.
