Armenian Authorities Subject Armenians to “Economic Terror”: ANC

The Armenian National Congress (ANC) thinks that the country’s authorities have begun subjecting the Armenian public to an “economic terror.”

“That is why we also raised economic issues during the March 1 rally,” ANC spokesperson Arman Musinyan said at a press conference today, adding that the ANC is going to lodge a complaint for the recent increase in gas prices.

Saying that all citizens can join the case, Musinyan also mentioned that the ANC was going to appeal the case in all possible instances and should they not succeed in winning, they will once again “reveal the face of jurisdiction in this country.”

Musinyan informed journalists that they will hold public discussions on a program designed by the ANC called “100 Steps,” adding that they are aware that the country’s ruling leadership are actively discussing this program and have found themselves in an uncomfortable situation.

“The response from the authorities must be criticism [what the ANC is expecting], but criticizing this program won’t be that easy,” he said. In Musinyan’s words, the program will be improved as a result of public discussions, during which time the ANC will have the opportunity to announce that their opposition coalition’s potential is greater than that of the current governing leadership.

According to Musinyan, ANC will agree to the authorities implementing this program (if they so choose), “but they will not be able to do so.”

"If authorities decide to implement this program, that doesn’t mean that ANC is cooperating with them whatsoever,” concluded Musinyan.
