Armenian Government Gave Genocide as a Gift to Turks: Armenian National Congress

The point at which the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide was threatened was after Serzh Sargsyan agreed to the proposal of creating a commission of historians, said Armenian National Congress (ANC) press spokesperson Arman Musinyan at a press conference today, adding that that decision has place the historical fact of the Armenian Genocide into doubt.

“Under these conditions, I’m not inclined to think that there’ll be countries which will recognize the Genocide,” said Musinyan.

According to the ANC spokesperson, if the US Congress doesn’t approve the Armenian Genocide bill (H.Res.252), the ANC won’t organize any protest rallies, since “rallies should be organized against those governing authorities who gave the Genocide as a gift to the Turks.”

Musinyan also stated that he doesn’t think the US Congress will approve the Armenian Genocide Resolution, since it won’t give up its interests in the name of recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

“We’ve always said that we’re in support of the Genocide issue not to be included in the [country’s] foreign policy agenda. We’re against it because sometimes the Genocide gets used as a tool by other states, even to oppress us, as a means of extracting something or another from us. To a certain extent, we don’t consider that ethical,” he said.
