Armenian National Congress Meets with Visiting EU Delegation

On March 2, Armenian National Congress (ANC) held a meeting with a European delegation headed by EU President and Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister Migel Angel Moratinos.

Moratinos presented the current status of Armenia-EU cooperation, placing importance on the European values and priorities that EU relations with Armenia are based upon.

ANC Coordinator Levon Zurabyan spoke about issues such as democracy in Armenia, human rights defense, political prisoners and also about the pan-Armenian struggle to resume the constitutional rule in the country, highlighting the importance of early parliamentary and presidential elections.

Davit Shahnazaryan, an ANC member, attached importance to receiving assistance from the international community in setting political prisoners free. Further, ANC representatives presented their approach on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the Armenia-Turkey rapprochement.

Levon Zurabyan also handed to the delegation letters of ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian addressed to Migel Angel Moratinos and Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security.

Later a phone call took place between Moratinos and Levon Ter-Petrossian.
