Cost of Drinking Water Goes Up in Armenia

Yerevan Water Company has filed a claim to the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia proposing to raise the price of water from the current 181 AMD up to 206.98 AMD for each cubic meter.

At a press conference today, Gagik Margaryan, the Commercial Director of Yerevan Water, clarified that, in accordance with its contract, each year the company must file a claim to the Commission to check the price of water, adding that the proposal had nothing to do with the recent rise in gas price.

“What do we want, a high-quality supply or one that is cheap and of poor quality?” said Margaryan, adding that the company is currently facing some problems.

Margaryan assured that the company also makes efforts to improve the quality of the water supplied.

“I think we definitely have higher quality service now than we had two years ago,” said Margaryan.
