Will Public Transportation Fares Rise in Armenia (Now That Cost of Gas Has Gone Up)?

Despite an unpopular ruling by the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia to raise gas tariffs, Armenian transportation companies that offer inter-marz (inter-province) and inter-state services have not yet made a claim to the Ministry to raise their fares, Ministry spokesperson Susanna Tonoyan told Tert.am.

Last year, after another increase in gas prices, some 18 companies had made claims to the Ministry proposing to raise the fares. But it rejected the move, explaining that they did not provide solid grounds and necessary documents.
