22 Suspected Al-Qaeda Members Detained in Turkey

Twenty-two people were detained in various Turkish provinces Monday for alleged links to the terrorist group al-Qaeda, reports Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review.

The operation, which was undertaken by police in the Central Anatolian province of Aksaray and local gendarmerie units, was conducted in Aksaray, Ankara and Manisa. The raids uncovered documents allegedly belonging to al-Qaeda, as well as one unregistered gun and two shotguns.

Some of the detained were brought to the anti-terror division of Aksaray’s police department after medical checks.
