Evaluation and Testing Centre Dissatisfied with School Exam Results
The results of the current school examinations conducted in about 40 schools in Armenia in February are dissatisfactory, Head of the Evaluation and Testing Centre Gurgen Khachatryan said at a press conference today.
School examinations in different subjects have been conducted in Syunik marz (province) and in Kanaker-Zeitun and Avan administrative districts in Yerevan. About 7600 school-children of 8th and 11th forms have participated in the exams. Sixty two per cent of the 8th form school-children have received "unsatisfactory" marks from Chemistry, while 44% have not passed the Geography exam. Thirty five per cent have failed in Biology, 31% in Physics, and 74% in German.
Beside none of the school-children has scored the highest points (9-10) in Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Mathematics and French.
The picture is not that sad with school-children in their 11th form.
"This can be explained by the fact that the 11th form is final year, and the school-children have prepared for the exam more seriously," said Khachatryan.
