Sargsyan Obama Meeting Ended

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's meeting with US President Barack Obama ended minutes ago in Washington. The meeting had started a little later than planned and lasted 45 minutes.

Our correspondent in Washington says it is still not known whether or not the two leaders will make any statement, adding that the two leaders discussed the perspectives of Armenian-American bilateral relations. Sezh Sargsyan and Bacak Obama referred also to the process of the Armenia-Turkey normalization, and exchanged ideas over regional developments and the current stage of the peaceful settlement of the Nagornoa Karabakh conflict.

Serzh Sargsyan is expected to have another meeting with US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. The timing of the meeting is still to be checked. It may take place either on April 11 or 12.

Earlier Serzh Sargsyan visited former American President Woodrow Wilson's memorial in Washington National Cathedral and place a wreath there following by a meeting with the Armenia-American community.

"We are ready and want to have normal relations with all our neighbors, but we will not tolerated pre-conditions to be dictated to us. This morning I met with Turkish Prime Minister. Our approach has been and remains very clear. Turkey cannot speak with pre-conditions to Armenia. We will not simply allow that. We cannot allow the fact of Armenian Genocide be a subject to examination or pretend that Turkey can play a positive role in the Karabakh conflict settlement process. Any new foreign policy line is subject to trial because we are passing through an non- trampled path. We are sure that Armenia will pass this way with honor too," said Sargsyan today at meeting with Armenian American Diaspora in Washington.

Before that Sargsyan had held a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the framework of the World Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.
