Ribery Quizzed by Police

Bayern Munich and France playmaker Franck Ribery has been questioned by police as a witness in a case of prostitution involving a minor.

Reports in France claim two other national team players have also been quizzed on the matter.

The investigation concerns events at a Paris nightclub often frequented by professional footballers. Ribery was summoned by the police to explain his relationship with one of his acquaintances who had connections with a call girl ring.

One of the French players involved in the case is reported to have admitted having a relationship with the prostitute in question, but denies knowing that she was a minor.

No charges have been brought against Ribery and his lawyer claims, as far as they are concerned, the matter is now closed.

"Personalities, including Franck Ribery and other international players, have among their contacts someone who is known to be close to an escort network," said Ribery's legal representative Sophie Bottai.

"It is only due to that contact that they have or will hear from the police services. The case does not concern my client and even if it did it would be a private matter. He was questioned as a witness - for us the matter stops there," said Bottai.
