Yerevan and Ankara Engaged in "Silent Diplomacy": Abdullah Gul

Ankara believes a "silent diplomacy" is needed to be pursued with Yerevan and that the Armenia-Turkey normalization has not grounded to a halt, Turkish President Abdullah Gul reportedly said in reference to a recent decision by Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan to suspend the ratification of the Protocols.

"Turkey has a clear-cut policy for the normalization of the relations with Armenia. Turkey has a foreign policy strategy and one foreign policy objective for the Caucasus - securing stability in the Caucasus," Turkish CNNTurk quotes Gul as saying.

Further Turkey's president says that the present status quo in the Caucasus should be changed.

"The current status quo in all the Caucasus is not beneficial for any one. That status quo needs to be changed so that peace and cooperation will prevail there. For that reason all should be careful over that issue. A "silent diplomacy" is probably needed at this moment," said Gul.
