Ministries Will Lay off Redundant Employees to Reward Best Ones

"There is an optimization problem in the state system, and some employees must be laid off," Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at a government session today.

In his words the salaries paid to those to be laid off shall remain at the disposal of the ministries and will be used for rewarding other employees.

Tigran Sargsyan also said that a political decision has jointly been made with the World Bank which will see the program implementation offices integrate the ministries.

"The integration must be carried out in a way so that the best specialists of the program implementation offices work at the ministries with high-paid salaries," said Sargsyan.

Further the premier instructed the ministers to design a program within four months which will state how many employees can be laid off.
