Chelsea Regains League Title with Rout in Final Game

Didier Drogba scored three goals as Chelsea regained the Premier League title from Manchester United with an 8-0 victory over Wigan on Sunday. Even though United finished the campaign with a 4-0 victory over Stoke at Old Trafford, the big celebrations were at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won the title by a point in Manager Carlo Ancelotti's first season in English soccer.

It was Chelsea's third league title in six years, and it prevented United from becoming the first team to win the Premier League title four years in a row. Now Ancelotti hopes to complete Chelsea's first league and F.A. Cup double by beating Portsmouth on Saturday in the final at Wembley.

England striker Wayne Rooney aggravated a groin injury, limping off in the 77th minute in Manchester United's victory over Stoke, a month before the World Cup begins. England's coach, Fabio Capello, will announce his provisional 30-man World Cup roster on Tuesday, reports the New York Times.
