28 Dead Found After Turkish Mine Explosion

Rescue teams in Turkey have found 28 bodies after Monday's underground mine blast. The explosion ripped through a coal mine in northern Turkey on Monday trapping up to 25 workers.

Rescue workers had been trying to reach those trapped after the powerful blast at the Karadon mine in the Black Sea province of Zonguldak.

It is still not known what caused the explosion or whether it had caused a cave-in at the mine.

The blast is the third mining accident in Turkey in just six months. In February, 13 workers were killed when a methane gas explosion caused an underground chamber to collapse at a coal mine in the north-western province of Balikesir. A similar accident killed 19 miners in the neighboring province of Bursa in December.
