Armenian Pedophile Teacher Sentenced to 2 Years

By a May 24 ruling Yerevan Court of first instance of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts sentenced Levon Avagyan, a former teacher of Nubarashen school #3, to two years of imprisonment.

Levon Avagyan is charged with Part 1 and 2 of Article 142 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

The court found Avagyan guilty of his “apparently immoral behavior towards teenage (under 16) girls” at the Nubarashen #3 school from 2006-2008 in the capacity of teacher of Armenian language and literature.

The court session was taking place at an emotional atmosphere with the representatives of organizations active in the protection of children’s rights shouting: “This is less for you, you brute.”

Mariam Sukhudyan, the person who revealed this case while working at this school in the framework of an UN-sponsored program as a volunteer, told Tert.am that Avagyan had been treated the girls in Nubarashen #3 school that way for 20 years.
“It were the children who told us about that, while the principal was saying that it was the result of children’s imagination,” said Sukhudyan.
