Tert.am Launches Mobile Version: You Ask Why?

It is already two weeks since the local Armenian four-language information website Tert.am has launched a mobile version accessible also for smart phones (iPhone, HTC, Blackberry).

In an interview with the local Armenian business daily Capital the Director of Media Style (owner of Tert.am) Vardan Asatryan said this move was aimed at strengthening the positions of the website in the market and at making the information provided more accessible for the readers given the recent global trend of using phones for reaching information on the internet instead of PCs or laptops.

"In that sense Tert.am is and has always been a media source that has new approaches and solutions, and we cannot but take this type of trends into account, especially given we are the leading information website in the Armenian online media," said Asatryan.

Asked what at the roots of the mobile version is and what its advantages are, Asatryan said: "The mobile version is the simplified one of the website. Here the sections of the website and the news are more compact. That is to say the reader gets rid of the 'heavy content' in the normal version of the website - advertisements, photos, etc. And the most important advantage is perhaps that the reader can access information from anywhere, on the way to work, at the cafés, in the parks while promenading. And being informed in our days of information society is the first and the main guarantee for being part of that society."
