Armenia Celebrating 92nd Anniversary of First Republic

Armenian people are celebrating today the 92nd anniversary of the first Republic of Armenia.

Resisting the enemy’s attacks in 1918 and by restoring the independent statehood of Armenians the Armenians fulfilled the inmost dream of the generations.

It was reborn due to the decent victories our people won during the battles in Sardarabad, Bash-Aparan and Gharaqilisa. Though a short victory it became the pillar of our national renaissance and the establishement of a new statehood.

The battle of Sardarabad took place on May 21-29 between the Armenian civilian a conventional troops and the Turkish army that had raided into Eastern Armenia.

The First Armenian Republic was established thanks to that battle, though it lasted only two years.

The Sardarabad memorial architectural-sculptural complex was built in 1968 in 53 km from Yerevan to town Armavir in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Armenians’ victory over the Turkish invaders.

An ethnographic museum near the complex presents to the visitors the whole Armenian history, its culture, crafts and daily life – starting from old ages up to modern-day Armenia.
