Progressive Party of Armenia Files a $1m USD Complaint against Amnesty International

Progressive Party of Armenia has filed a complaint against Amnesty International human rights organization, citing to some faulty points included in a 2010 report prepared by the organization.

According to a statement issued by the party the false information makes them draw two conclusions: the authors of the report are either "illiterate and unduteous and should apologize for their mistake" or "pursuing some aims they have purposefully included unimaginable lies in the so-called report for which they should apologize too."

The case refers to an "attack" by Mika Danielyan (and a group of his friends) on T. Urikhanyan, the party leader, in 2008. According to the statement, to protect himself Urikhanyan was obliged to fire into the air.

The party is going to require $1milion USD from the International Amnesty as "moral compensation."
