Armenian Students Organize Anti-Smoking March

The Student council of the American University of Armenia in cooperation with other Armenian universities and volunteers of the Armenian Office of the Red Cross will organize a student march dedicated to the World No Tobacco Day.

The march is aimed at once again drawing public and healthcare specialist attention to the smoking epidemic, raising awareness about the harm that smoking causes to the health, as well as involving the youth in preventing smoking and its consequences in Armenia.

The aim of this campaign is also to raise awareness about the current law on smoking in Armenia.

At 5 pm today the marchers will meet at the Cascade complex and will move to the Yerevan State Medical University where the participants of Tobacco or Health conference will join them. Further the march will go forward through Abovyan Street to its final destination - the Republican Square - where the participants will use empty cigarette boxes to prepare posters that will read No Smoking and Fresh Air.

The march is planned to end at 7-7:30 pm.
