More Grape Fruit Expected in Armenia in 2010

Armenia is expecting more grape fruit this year compared to 2009, Armenia’s Agriculture Minister Gerasim Alaverdyan told a press conference today, adding that there will be no problem for the farmers to have their produce brought by the factories.

“No need to worry, the purveyance will be organized properly; we have met all the storing organizations. We will hold separate meetings and discussions with some large organizations,” said Alaverdyan.

In an attempt to dispel widespread concerns among farmers that Yerevan Brandy Factory is said to buy 20% less grape fruit from each contract holder Alaverdyan assured: “That is not true.”

In 2009 some 127,3000 tonnes of grape fruit was bought from farmers in Armenia.
