Turkey Needs a Scandal Rather Than War: Iskandaryan

What Turkey wants is playing a role in Middle East and for that purpose it pursues a 'pro-active' policy, politologist and Director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan told a press conference today, referring to recent developments in Turkish-Israeli relations.

According to him spoiling relations with Israel is more reasonable in this context especially given the policy pursued by Turkey.
"I do not think that Turkey will declare a war against Israel. Spoiling relations with Israel is one thing, declaring a war - another.

"Turkey has neither the will nor the ability to fight a war with Israel," said Iskandaryan, adding that what Turkey really needs is a "scandal rather than a war."

Asked about consequences or the outcomes of this tension in Turkey-Israel relation for Armenia, Iskandaryan said any further aggravation might, in any format, contribute to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Israel.
