Putin's Way to Go: Will Saakashvili Run as Premier?

Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili admits in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde' that he would like to run as prime minister after the end of his term in office.

'I have been thinking over the possibility to become prime minister, but a lot of things are still obscure. Who knows what the economic situation will look like two years later, what will constitutional reform and my attitude and political rating look like," Saakashvili said.

Asked about the possibility to run as premier like Vladimir Putin of Russia Saakashvili said: "Putin is Putin. Russia is not ruled by a primer or president, but by Putin and FSB. Freedom is now very attractive for me, the opportunity of walking around without bodyguard."

He said he was sure that the National Movement Party he created would continue to exist even after he resigns.

'My political practice has showed me that earlier popularity becomes victim to your reforms, you lose love, but still everyone is grateful for the work,' said Saakashvili.
