"They Distorted My Words": Mironov Unveils Azerbaijani Fabrication

Head of Federal Assembly of Russia Sergey Mironov never said that "Russia would never recognize the independence of Nagorno Karabakh," Mironov told journalists Wednesday, adding that what he said was that "Russia does not currently recognize NK as an independent state."

"I only said that we do not currently recognize NK as an independent state. Unfortunately, I was surprised finding out that my words had been completely distorted," Russian news agency Regnum quoted him as saying.

Ironically, according to Mironov there was no journalist in the hall when he made that statement.

Further he said that his approach did not differ from the official stance of Russia's Foreign Ministry.

Earlier Azerbaijani press reported as if Mironov had said that "Russia will never recognize the independence of Nagorno Karabakh."
