Obama ‘Begged’ Erdogan Not to Vote against UN Resolution against Iran: Ahmadinejad

US President Barack Obama asked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan not to vote against the US Security Council resolution that envisaged fresh sanctions upon Tehran, Iran’s President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said as he spoke from the Iranian state TV channel, reports German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

“In a long phone conversation with Tayyip Erdogan Obama begged him not to vote against the resolution or at least to miss the session,” Ahmadinejad was reported as saying.

Turkey and Brazil voted against the UN Security Council resolution to impose fresh sanctions upon Iran. All the permanent members of the Security Council had voted for the adoption of the resolution.
