Lunch with Warren Buffet Auctioned for $2.6mn

Records are tumbling at the eBay auction! A lunch with the business mogul Warren Buffet auctioned on online auctioneer carries a tag of $2.6 million, the "largest ever single auction for charity that's been sold on eBay" in its 15-year history, reveals the eBay auction.

Last year, the auction could garner only $1.68 million, a bid made by a Canadian investment firm to dine with the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

A Chinese investment fund manager had won the bid in 2008.

If somebody is interested in the details, $2,626,311 is the said bid.

The amount beats the $2.11 million bid in the 2008 edition of the Buffett lunch auction.

This year’s auction, the 11th annual charity fundraiser, began at $25,000 and had a total of 77 bids. The online auction had started June 6.

“It’s actually a remarkable calibration of his value. It measures what people think his worth to them is.” -- Jeff Matthews, founder of hedge fund Ram Partners LP.

Proceeds from the lunch with the greatest investor and financial genius in history would benefit the Glide Foundation, a non-profit organization in the San Francisco Bay area working with the mission of reducing poverty and sufferings.
