Serj Tankian's Concert in Yerevan Soon

Eminent American-Armenian rock musician Serj Tankian, a former System of a Down rock band vocalist, will give his first solo performance in August 12 at Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex, Armenia.

The concert organizers Armen Gubelyan, head of the Los Angeles-based Fugitive Studios company's Armenian representation and Raffi Niziblyan, head of the DEEM Communications company's Armenian representation, told a press conference today that the concert will be accompanied by luxurious illumination and up-to-date acoustic apparatus. Serj Tankian will perform with his band's six singers accompanied by Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra's classical musicians.

They also said it has taken them over two years to organize Tankian's first solo performance and that the latter has always cherished to give a concert in Armenia. As Gubelyan observed, the prominent vocalist has always appreciated the Armenians and always endeavors to honorably represent his motherland abroad. They also have offered Tankian to perform a song in Armenian, but as the concert project is still under way, they were unsure whether or not it would be possible.

Further Gubelyan and Niziblyan noted that Tankian has granted concert ticket discounts for Armenians. They will be sold starting from July 1 and it is anticipated that their cost will vary from 4000 to 45-50 000 AMD.
