Obama-Sarkozy-Medvedev statement is dangerous: Surenyants

The statement recently made by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairpersons did not differ very much with its philosophy of the statement made in the Italian town of L’Aquila, politologist Suren Surenyants told a press conference today.

According to him the statement by OSCE co-chairs has some dangerous points in it as for the first time Armenia was referred to as an occupant, the formulations on the corridor between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh and also about the referendum were vague and unclear, and there was no mention of the status of the territories allegedly to be returned to Azerbaijan.

Further Surenyants said he deemed it wrong the approach that Armenia must walk away from the negotiations, should unfavorable proposals be made to it, as withdrawing from talks, according to him, would mean a war.

According to Surenyants what Armenia should do is to continue the talks, mobilize all its domestic resources so that to take as much as possible from the negotiation process.
