There is a new document on the table: Ruben Safrastyan

There will be no progress in the talks over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict till September, Head of Oriental Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Ruben Safrastyan told a press conference today.

At the same time he did not exclude that there is some progress in the negotiations over Karabakh, adding that he had no detail about it.

"Anyway there is a new document on the table that is based on Madrid Principles and which, as I have already said, can be called as [Saint] Petersburg proposals. Both parties have accepted it as the basis for talks, and I think in the near future the negotiation process will continue based on the discussion of that document. This is the reality," explained he.

At the same time, according to him, the document under discussion is not one, which would make it possible reaching breakthroughs in the negotiation process, "but anyway, the parties have accepted it, and that means that there is some basis for negotiations."

According to Safaryan Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Armenia in August will be important in the sense that to some extent it will make Azerbaijan take its liabilities over keeping ceasefire more seriously.
