Work on Free Trade Zone will continue

CIS states will continue to work on the Free Trade Zone agreement, according to a statement of released by CIS leaders on July 10-11 following an unofficial summit in Yalta, Ukraine.

According to Russian daily RBK the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus and Azerbaijan positively appreciated the meeting in Yalta where they discussed issues such as economic and investment cooperation in the framework of CIS, as well as the design and implementation of joint projects in the sphere of infrastructure and tourism.

The parties also discussed issues such as the convenience of the parties’ participation in the preparations of Olympic Games 2014 to take place in the Russian resort city of Sochi, Football Europe Tournament in Ukraine in 2014 and the hockey World Cup to take place in Minsk in.

The CIS unofficial summit was convened upon the initiative of Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich who celebrated his 60th anniversary the day prior the summit.
