NKR foreign minister Petrosian met students and lecturers

On July 10 NKR Foreign Minister Georgy Petrosian met with students and lecturers from various universities of Belgium.

Upon the guests’ request the Minister answered a wide range of questions related to the pre-history of the Karabakh conflict and its settlement process, the NKR post-war rehabilitation and economic development, the democratic developments in the country, the introduction of impartial information on Artsakh to the international community, etc.

“Obviously, Nagorno Karabakh should be independent. The independence of Karabakh isn’t today’s political will of our leadership and people. To understand this, one should refer to the history. Since we had the right to sign corresponding documents to stop the war imposed on us, so surely, we have the right to build our independent future. The majority of steps, which the NKR takes and will take, should be considered just proceeding from this thesis”, Georgy Petrosian noted.

Drawing the guests’ attention to the destructive position of official Baku, the NKR Foreign Minister emphasized, “We speak of right, and Azerbaijan speaks of territories. This is why Baku rejects any contacts with Nagorno Karabakh. Moreover, aggressive intentions are systematically stated on a top level in Azerbaijan. That’s why so far there is no common approach between the parties, though we have repeatedly suggested Azerbaijan to negotiate.”

The Belgian delegation members noted the considerable achievements of the NKR in building a civil society and in the economic development.
