Will Georgia sell also its navigation system?

Georgian parliament has removed air traffic and air control measures off the list of those facilities that are not subject to privatization, reports local Georgian newspaper Rezonansi, adding that the corresponding bill may this week be adopted by the parliament.

Levan Vepkhvadza, the Deputy Chairperson of the Georgian parliament and opposition representative, told the newspaper that Russia will pay ten times more for the Georgian navigation system to have a direct communication with Armenia.

The opposition thinks that Russia will buy also the gas pipeline that carries the Russian gas to Armenia via Georgia.

Earlier Georgia announced about its intention to sell the gas pipeline that carries Russian gas to Armenia. This has roused discontent among Armenians who are fearful that an Azerbaijani company might buy it and use as leverage to exert political concessions from Armenia.

Reversely, according to local Russian daily Vzgliad Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Veronica Kobalia had said earlier that Georgia does not intend to sell all the shares of that gas pipeline to Russia but only 10-15 per cent of the shares.
Interestingly, Kobalia also mentioned that the deal might be made only after 2-3 years time.
