Petersburg proposals will be on Almaty agenda: Nalbandyan

In a press conference with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan referred to the recent news widely covered by media according to which a meeting among Armenian, Azerbaijani and the OSCE Minsk Group foreign ministers is set to take place on July 17 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

“Such a meeting is possible, and at this moment the [OSCE MG] co-chairpersons are trying to organize it, but it has not been confirmed yet,” said Nalbandyan.

“Should such a meeting take place, it must first of all be clarified whether Azerbaijan is ready to continue the negotiations based on the last version of the Madrid document presented in Saint Petersburg which was agreed upon at a highest level. I think that will possibly be the main issue of the possible meeting to take place in Almaty.”

Further referring to a recent statement by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov who had earlier said that the return of Lachin and Kelbajar issues will be discussed in the up-coming meeting in Almaty, Nalbandyan said that Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan has already answered to “all imaginations.”
