If Koryun Piloyan is involved in Vahan Khalafyan's court proceedings then the accusations are fabricated: Arthur Sakunts

"Vahan Khalafyan's case has not completely been investigated, and the reality is obviously being concealed. The witnesses involved in this case have been displaced [from Armenia]" Head of Helsinki Association's Vanadzor Office Arthur Sakunts told a press conference today.

"If [prosecutor] Koryun Piloyan is involved in the case, that means that the accusation is so much trumped up that the journalists must keep a close eye on it," said Sakunts, adding that the statement by Police Chief Alik Sargsyan as if the police station in Charentsavan city has undergone reforms is not true as self-will actions do continue there.

Further he mentioned with regret that the media does not duel cover the case when citizens are exposed to violations.

In his words it was due to widespread public reaction and media coverage that proceedings were instituted over Vahan Khalafyan's killing in Charentsavan police station where he was taken to on theft charges. It was due to that that now some police officers stand on the witness box.

"But few media outlets cover Vahan Khalafyan's case," said Sakunts in apparent repentance.
