Visa Simplification Agreement may come into force sooner than Association Agreement

The agreements on visa simplification and multiple entry visas may come into force sooner than the Association Agreement, Gunnar Vigand, Chairman of the European Commission's Foreign Relations Directorate for East Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia said at a joint press conference with Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Karine Ghazinyan.

"I know that this is one of the most important concerns for Armenian citizens. We will try to get a mandate so that we can start negotiations over two agreements, one for visa simplification, which may reduce the visa costs for all Armenians, as well as for privileges for multiple entry visas," said Vigand.

Further Vigand said that the agreement may come into force before the Association Agreement should the parties agree upon visa issues.

Karine Ghazinyan in turn said they wanted private Armenians to feel the effects and importance of the Association Agreement as soon as possible.
