Farewell letter: veteran HHSh member Karapet Rubinyan leaves party over rigged board elections

Prominent member of the Armenian Pan-National Movement Party (HHSh) and coordinator of the Committee for Protection of Political Prisoners and Persecuted, Karapet Rubinyan have spread an open letter informing the public that he leaves the party.

In the letter Rubinyan also elaborates on the reasons of his resignation from the party membership - something he has had for about 20 years.

According to Rubinyan the recent election of the party board chairman and members that took place in the framework of the July 17 party congress were rigged.

Further he expresses regret that the elections are being rigged in a party that has for the last two years together with the Armenian National Congress (HAK) been fighting against the 2008 rigged presidential elections.

According to Rubinyan all the members of HHSh had been instructed by a message by the HAK leader and former Armenian president Levon Ter-Petrosyan that Karapet Rubinyan must not be elected as party board member.

According to Rubinyan Levon Ter-Petrosyan is in this way punishing him for criticizing his policy.
