Slip of tongue? Davutoglu uses the term 'Kurdistan' for Northern Iraq

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu made an expected choice of terms as he referred to the administrative region of Northern Iraq.

According to Turkish daily Milliyet Davutoglu used the word "Kurdistan" in a condolatory letter addressed to the head of administration of the Northern Iraq Mesut Barzani on the occasion of a fire that took place in the town of Suleimanie on July 15 claiming 22 lives.

Interestingly, up to this day Ankara has used terms like "Northern Iraq," "Iraq's northern part," "Iraqi Kurdish region" instead of "Kurdistan."
